THE WAPD PROGRAM
WAPD holds six weekly drama/dance workshops catering for clients with varying physical and intellectual disabilities. The program focuses on improving and developing skills in movement, drama, dance and singing, and each ninety minute workshop consists of a wide range of theatre sports, games and dances. The activities performed in class are designed to encourage group and individual participation, whilst developing physical well-being, confidence and self esteem. Towards the end of the fourth term, participants from all classes assemble together to perform an End of Year Concert on the main stage at Parramatta's Riverside Theatre. This is an opportunity to showcase some of the year's work to an audience.

The 10:00am Tuesday, Thursday & Friday classes are designed for clients with severe to moderate disabilities, whilst the 12:00 midday Tuesday, Thursday & Friday classes are designed for clients with moderate to mild disabilities. Some of the disabilities include: Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Visually Impaired. Each workshop runs for one and a half hours, and includes a short refreshment break where light cordial is provided.

New clients wishing to join the program must first complete an enrolment form. A discussion will then take place between the carer and tutors to determine the most suitable class for the participant. New clients may enrol any time of the year, but only after consultation with the WAPD tutors.

Tuesday classes: Granville Town Hall, 8 Carlton Street Granville.
Thursday classes: Ermington Community Centre, 10 River Road Ermington.
Friday classes: Granville Community Youth Centre, 3A Memorial Drive Granville.

The program runs over four terms in the year and dates coincide with the regular school term period.

WAPD fees: $14 per class for each client. Term fees are made payable at the beginning of term to Riverside Theatres.

In order to provide a more effective workshop for each individual involved, we ask that all carers participate and assist their clients during the workshops.
